Congrats! You just booked your boudoir session!
Don’t worry! If you’re feeling this way, know that almost every single boudoir client has been in your shoes. For most, it’s a completely new experience! We get it and we are invested in making this shoot one of the most special days that you have had in a very long time. We’ll take the guesswork and labor out of it for you.
Here’s a few quick Boudoir 101 tips to get you started in the right direction.
We encourage you to bring a suitcase/overnight bag to the studio and stuff it full of beautiful lingerie that you love, as well as some fun layering pieces like robes, fuzzy sweaters, tights, and anything else that makes you feel sexy and beautiful. Bodysuits and teddies shoot particularly well, so if you have a really cute one, definitely bring it!
Heels always look amazing. The higher the heel, the better. Not a heel person? That’s ok, too! Beautiful strappy sandals can be a great boho alternative and barefoot is beautiful, too – just make sure your toes are looking their best because they will be in the photos!
Nails, nails, nails!
You will be touching your face for several poses- hands are a huge part of how we express ourselves. Give yourself the gift of a mani-pedi before your shoot.
Want to simply add it on to your package? Reach out to Suma or Laurel and we’ll get you hooked up with one of our absolute favorite nail artists before your photo shoot!
Wanna really give yourself a luxury experience? Spring for a facial 10 to 14 days before your shoot.
TWO WEEKS? Yep! Facials, while incredible, can often lead to changes in skin texture for the following week or so before you really see the long-lasting, gorgeous results. That means that while your skin is purging the funk from your pores, you may see a little bit of acne. We DO NOT recommend getting a facial the week of the shoot for this reason, but the glow is totally worth planning around.
Want a facial but have no clue where to go? WE GOT YOU! Just let us know and we’ll book you with our favorite aesthetician.
Skin acting up regardless of the great care you give it? Don’t stress: we automatically remove blemishes, so really, it’s like they’re not even there. (Our rule of thumb is to take out anything that won’t be there in three months!)
Does your color need a touch-up? Maybe a little trim? While our incredible hair stylists and makeup artists do gorgeous work, coming in with fresh color and a maintenance trim is a great way to start your session off right!
In fact, you can work with our stylists from start to finish to craft and create the perfect look for your shoot, including your cut, color, AND style! Let us know and we’ll book you with our master stylist who can also do a makeup consultation with you at the same time. We’ll take all of the guesswork out of it for you!
While we do not install hair extensions on the day of your shoot, we are happy to style them for you! Our head stylist may have a baby face, but she has over 25 years of experience doing a variety of hair from her humble beginnings in Jacksonville to celebrity styling in Los Angeles and international education across Europe, Asia, and North America.
That’s right – health! We’re not talking crash diets… eff that. We are talking legit nutrition and hydration. #Allbodiesaregoodbodies here!
We recommend being really conscious of your water-intake for 5-10 days before your shoot. That’s right – this shoot is an investment in yourself and the best way to get the highest ROI is to take good care of yourself a good week or two before your special day.
Get a good night’s sleep the night before and do your best to for several nights leading up to the shoot. Lack of iron and dehydration often show as deep, dark under-eye circles. Take charge by taking a multivitamin, as well as iron supplements if you are prone to anemia, pay attention to your allergies, and drink a ton of water.
Good life advice in general, excellent advice to make you absolutely glow in front of the camera!
